Another Extension for Constitution?

The Technical Committee Drafting the Zambian Constitution says it might not be possible to have a final draft constitution before the end of June.

Committee Chairperson, Enerst Mwansa said the team of experts that has been assigned to look at the final draft needs atleast two months to complete the whole work on the constitution.

Mwansa said the team needs enough time to do the right thing and should not be lashed to produce credible work.

According to Q FM monitored in Lusaka on Thursday morning by Zambian Eye, the team finished the works and has now handed it to some experts to proof read and do the final works before it can be ready to be presented to government.

And Justice Deputy Minister, Ngosa Simbyakula also confirmed receiving a request of extension from the technical committee on drafting the constitution.

The committee had set June 30th as the date for the hand over of the final draft constitution to the President.

The committee was first constituted in November 2011 and was given a year in which  to do the work.
