Airtel now goes Solar

Solar panelIn promoting the green trend of clean eco-friendly telecommunications sites, Zambia’s telecoms giant, Airtel in Zambia has converted close to 50 sites to Solar power generation.

This number is expected to increase by an additional 40 more sites in the coming fiscal year

“We are happy that we have sustained our objective to contribute to a clean environment,” Chabuka Kawesha the Head of Communication announced in a statement on Tuesday in Lusaka. “Further, we call upon the local communities in all areas were changes to Solar powered sites have been effected to guard the infrastructure and report any seen deliberate damage to Airtel or the Police. This will help eliminate any network service disruption.”

Airtel says it is confident that it shall bring on board an additional 40 telecoms sites on the new fiscal year that started in April 1, 2013.
