Aids drugs arrive in Zambia

A consignment of Antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) worth 15o million kwacha that government had procured has arrived in the country.
Six have truckloads arrived in the country while four are still be expected.
Health Deputy Minister Dr. Patrick Chikusu who witnessed the receipting of the ARVs at Medical stores in Lusaka also announced that government has since increased the budget allocation for purchase of the drugs by 50 percent.
This according to the Deputy Minister will increase the supply of the drug. He said the Ministry has come up with a constant supply mechanism to avert in shortages.
A critical shortage of ARVs had hit most health facilities around Zambia forcing authorities to start rationing the life-saving drugs.
