Absence of senior PF officials at ECZ meeting annoys opposition

OPPOSITION leaders Nevers Mumba and Hakainde Hichilema say they feel insulted by the PF top leaders decision to send Geoffrey Chuumbwe, a junior official, to a stakeholders’ consultative forum on peaceful, free and fair elections organised by the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

But Chuumbwe who is Lusaka Province PF chairperson has accused the opposition of being insincere in their dealings.

During the stakeholders’ meeting at Mulungishi International Conference Centre, MMD’s Mumba and UPND’s Hichilema demanded an explanation from ECZ as to why the PF leadership delegated “a low-ranking official” to attend.

The opposition leaders said it was an insult to them for the PF to be represented by Chuumbwe, who they accused of incapacity to deliberate an important issues.

Mumba said it was an insult for President Michael Sata and other senior officials to be absent at the meeting of such magnitude.
