17 call on JCA to arrest Mongu magistrate’s pending judgment

THE 17 Mongu residents appearing in Court for maliciously tearing copies of the draft constitution have asked the Judicial Complaints Authority to arrest Livingstone resident magistrate Exonorbit Zulu’s pending judgment to avoid a travesty of justice.

But magistrate Zulu has since rescheduled judgment in the case from March 28 to May 2 and 3.

This is a matter where Sinonge Lutangu and 16 others are charged with malicious damage to property and conduct likely to breach the peace following their alleged tearing of 113 copies of the draft constitution valued at KR665.40 in Mongu.

“We hereby submit our petition to the Judicial Complaints Authority to restrain Honourable Zulu from continuing with our case. We submit this application after carefully and having studied the unusual manner in which Hon Zulu has handled the proceedings of our case from the beginning,” they stated.
