Zambia’s Nkana Beat Tunisians As Kambwili Stirs Drama

Sports minister Chishimba Kambwili has caused a scene at Nkana stadium in Kitwe when he confronted Ethiopian referee Tessema Weyesa accusing him of bias after Nkana conceded a late penalty in their 4-3 win over Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia.

A seven goal blitz characterised Nkana’s CAF Confederations Cup victory over the Tunisians to collect maximum points before a capacity crowd at Kitwe’s Nkana Stadium.

Club talisman Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba scored a 10th minute equaliser after the home team was caught on the wrong end when the Tunisians took the lead in the third minute thanks to a penalty by Youssef Mouihidi.

Although striker Festus Mbewe put Nkana ahead on 27 minutes, the lead lasted only four minutes as the visitors were equal on 31 minutes with Moussa’s wonder goal.

The two teams went to the break at par but Nkana returned the more resolved side with Simon Bwalya registring his name on the scoresheet three minutes after the break with Derrick Mwansa taking the lead a little further on 51 minutes.

The Tunisians got their second penalty of the day deep into stoppage time as Mouihidi scored. Nkana are now third in Group B with four points, one behind Etoile du Sahel who are in second place and tied with Al Ahly for the top position but only separated by goal difference.

Sewe Sport of Ivory Coast who have Al Ahly this weekend are in bottom fourth on three points.
