PF Shifts Airline Goalpost

Government has continued shifting goalposts on the re-introduction of the national airline by saying the move could only take off after October.

Transport and Communications Minister Yamfwa Mukanga who has been excitedly giving out deadlines on the take off of the national airline has again issued a new deadline saying the matter was still under consideration by cabinet.

Mukanga said resources were part of the reason the process had stalled but claimed by Independence Day celebrations in October the airline will be on its feet.

“As to when the national airline will take off we still have to decide whether to partner with an organization or run it as government. We have submitted a letter to cabinet and you know there is a queue for these things,” he said.

“You also have to know that this kind of process depends on resources available.”

Mukanga said that the national airline remained a priority for the PF government as they wanted it to be part of their legacy.
