PF Intact, Says Katema

GOVERNMENT has dismissed reports of formation of a breakaway from the Patriotic Front (PF).

Chief Government spokesperson Joseph Katema described as wishful thinking and the work of the opposition, attempting to create an impression that the ruling PF was divided.

Dr Katema, who is Information and Broadcasting Services Minister, said the allegations were a mere fabrication aimed at swaying Government from focusing on delivering development for the people.

A private newspaper, the Daily Nation, alleged yesterday that some Cabinet ministers were plotting to form a splinter party.

“This is clearly the work of the ruling party’s political opponents who want to gain political mileage from lies against the Government,” he said.

He said in a statement in Lusaka yesterday that the PF was not experiencing any problems and was intact under the leadership of President Michael Sata.

He said the ruling party was committed to delivering on its mandate which it had been given by the people of Zambia.

“Government will not be swayed by such cheap politicking, from delivering on its development agenda,” he said.

He said the Government would remain focused on its agenda of constructing roads, schools, hospitals and other social services.

He had since aised media houses to guard against being used to propagate falsehoods by critics of Government.
