Nine Boreholes Set for Kanyama

KANYAMA Constituency water and health challenges will soon become a thing of the past following interventions that have been put in place to arrest the situation.

Area Member of Parliament Gerry Chanda said in an interview with the Sunday Times on Saturday that nine boreholes would be sunk in Kanyama Constituency and that construction of a clinic in Linda township would start .

“The Muslim community has given us seven boreholes, Zambezi Drilling has given us two boreholes.

“His Excellency, the President, has been very magnanimous and has given me 10 days to stay in Kanyama so that I can identify which development projects must move fast,” he said.

Col Chanda said some projects that lacked funding would utilise what was available in the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and from other co-operating partners.

Col Chanda said since the rainy season was over, he would utilise the 10 days to identify the areas where the boreholes would be sunk, starting with Linda Township, followed by John Laing and Garden House area.

And Col Chanda said since he was elected in 2011, he had managed to reduce flooding in Kanyama Constituency by 50 per cent.
