New Daily Mail Boss in Undue Salary Allegations

Newly appointed Zambia Daily Mail boss Bryson Mumba is embroiled in a disputed salary adjustment he solicited when he was director of finance for the public media organisation.

According to information obtained by Zambia Reports, Mumba solicited a salary increment of K1,450, 000 upon completion of his MBA with Edinburgh Business School of Heriot-Watt University UK.

The award was then given by former Zambia Daily Mail managing director Isaac Chipampe increasing the monthly wage to K36, 465, 488 allegedly based on Clause 9.17 of the Training and Development Policy.

But sources say Mumba did not qualify for a salary adjustment based on Clause 9.17 because the policy is meant for studies or course pre approved by the company.

“Mr Mumba’s studies were not pre-approved by the company and hence, these were private. He was not entitled to any notch increment to his salary,” a document seen by Zambia Reports states.

According to the information, Mumba is currently under investigations by the Anti Corruption Commission for the undue salary increment solicited when he was responsible for the finance department at the Zambia Daily Mail.
