Kambwili Directs Venom At Times of Zambia

Acting Labour Minister Chishimba Kambwili used his brief return to the ministry he was removed from to misdirect his venom towards Times Printpak Board of Management whom he has directed to pay the striking workers within 14 days.

And the strike action is still ongoing despite the threats by management to fire workers who have absconded work.

Ironically the board is looking to Information Minister Joseph Katema to step in and attempt to avert the unending financial woes at the country’s oldest newspaper company.

The motor mouthed Kambwili also directed councils to pay their workers within 30 days or face his ‘hot air’.

“I hereby issue a 14 day ultimatum for management to source for funds to clear the three months’ salary arrears. I don’t care how they do it, all I want to see is that the Journalists at the Times are paid,” said Kambwili.

“You know my stance about labour issues and I don’t want to be party to a group that fails to pay its workers, this is unacceptable and embarrassing. I want the M.D and the HR Director to find money within 14 days to pay the workers.”

The workers have been infuriated by the three months salary delay, the board’s decision to buy luxurious cars at the time the company is financially crippled and also the arbitrary transfer of workers deemed to have a union mentality.
