Ex-Mpika Priest, Father Chibuye, Dies

Former Mpika Catholic diocese Caritas director Fr Patrick Chibuye has died.vFr Chibuye died yesterday at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka after an illness. Kasama member of parliament Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, commonly known as GBM, confirmed Fr Chibuye’s death.

Fr Chibuye was chairman of the constitution commission for Muchinga Province. The constitution has stalled with President Michael Sata refusing to attend to it. “I have just learnt about the death of Former Mpika Catholic diocese Caritas director Fr Patrick Chibuye who passed away in UTH Lusaka on 2nd April 2014,” he stated.

“Father Chibuye meant different things to different people. Others remember him as Chairperson for the Muchinga Province Constitution Convention and others for being a critical voice on many governance issues. “Personally, I respected him for the courage he demonstrated through out his life and his love for Zambia.

“On this note, and on behalf of my wife, we send our condolences to his family, the entire Catholic church and indeed the people of Mpika District, which was Father Chibuye’s home. I mourn with you all. May His Departed Soul Rest In Peace.,” said Bwalya.
