Donors Upset Over Constitution Stalemate

The Grand Coalition says some donors and stakeholders are very disappointed with government’s challenge to pro constitution aocates to find money for the process to be concluded.

Coalition chairperson Father Leonard Chiti said some stakeholders were more disappointed that the process had ground to a halt after they had rendered their support all the way.

Fr Chiti said government’s reaction had sent chilling messages to the donor community who had faith that the process would finally be brought to a conclusive end.

He said the stakeholders were constrained in coming out in the open as they deemed the process an internal matter.

The Patriotic Front government has stalled the constitution making process after listing it high on their 90 days priority list.

President Michael Sata kick started the process by appointing the Technical Committee but after they wound up their work he never granted them an appointment to hand over the document.

Out of frustration they dumped the 10 copies at the Ministry of Justice where it is marooned without indication that the Zambians will have sight of it.
