Afcon 20192021 – Inspectors in Final Phase of Tours in Zambia

CAF inspectors are scheduled to arrive in Zambia on Saturday 9th August for the final phase of inspections of bidding nations eyeing the opportunity to host the 2019 and 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Zambia is among five countries contending to host the African Nations Cup in 2019.

The CAF delegation of Messrs. Amadou Diakite and Djibrin Adoum, both CAF Executive Committee members, FIFA Expert Walter Gagg, CAF Expert Paul Bassey and Amr Fahmy, the CAF Director of Africa Cup tournaments will be in Zambia from 9th through the 15th August 2014.

The CAF Inspections Committee started its work in West Africa, visiting Guinea and Ivory Coast before touring Algeria and Cameroon. The DRC was scheduled to be visited this August but withdrew from the race.

The Committee will upon completion of all inspections of bidding nations present its report to CAF headquarters in Cairo. The CAF Executive Committee meeting in Addis Ababa in September 2014 will decide on the host nations for 2019 and 2021.

While in Zambia, the CAF team will visit Lusaka, Ndola, Chingola, Chililabombwe and the tourist capital of Livingstone. They will check on the newly constructed 60,000 National Heroes stadium, Nkoloma stadium, the Levy Mwanawasa stadium, Nchanga and Konkola stadia in Chingola and Chililaombwe respectively.

They will also inspect training pitches, hotels, hospitals, transport and communication networks.
