Zambians have a responsibility to hold the Govnt accountable, Chikwanda

Zambia’s Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda says Zambians have a responsibility to hold the Government accountable in the way is spends public funds.

Chikwanda said this when he launched the 2013 Budget bulletin which is aimed at sensitizing and explaining to Members of the Public how funds are being used in the various projects that are implemented y the Government over a period of time.

The Finance Minster said at a press briefing in Lusaka the Zambian Capital today February 26 2013, that his Government had realized the need for it to explain the budget to the people.

He said such a practice would even help to foster transparency by having the Government explain the budget to the people in plain Language and not having to hide behind technicalities.

He said his Government was working to run away from running the Government in an opaque manner in an effort to build confidence in the people on how their money is being used.

Secretary to the Treasury Fredson  Yamba said at the same function that the document had come at the right time when Zambians wanted to know what Public funds were being used for.
