ZAMBIAN GOVT STRIVING TO ENSURE MORE COMMUNITIES HAVE ACCESS TO CLEAN WATER

LUSAKA, The Zambian government is taking drastic measures to ensure that more communities in the country have access to clean water, says Lusaka Province Minister Japhen Mwakalombe.

The implementation of the Misisi Water Supply Improvement Project will help to control outbreaks and spread of water-borne diseases at the Zambian capital’s Misisi settlement, ranked as among the five worst slums in su-Saharan Africa.

Speaking the official handover of the Misisi Water Project here Tuesday, Minister of water Development Lloyd Kaziya commended the various stakeholders for implementing the water supply project.

He said there is a need for water providers to provide build-up capacity for stocking in communities.

The area member of Parliament, Lawrence Sichalwe, thanked the government for improving water supply in his area and urged the local people to protect the facility at all costs.
