LUSAKA– The Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with local film producers to promote local content on the national broadcaster.

Speaking during the signing ceremony in Lusaka on Wednesday, ZNBC Director-General Richard Mwanza said ZNBC had for a long time been enthusiastic to promote and televise indigenous content.

Mwanza said the partnership with the film makers would result in improved local production which would also contribute to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

He encouraged local film makers to produce quality content which would attract the business organizations to sponsor their production.

Speaking on behalf of the producers, Centripetal Media Zambia director Lawrence Thompson thanked ZNBC for providing a platform to promote local content.

Thompson, who is also producer of the Kabanana drama series, also appealed to the corporate sector to support local productions.
