Sata swore in Sinazongwe UPND MP, urges him to ignore critics

sataPresident Michal Sata this morning swore in United Party for National Development (UPND)  Siavonga Member of Parliament Richwell Siamunene as Deputy Minister of Commerce and Trade.

Sata has also sworn in Ephron Lungu as Foreign Affairs Minister to officially replace Kabwata Member of Parliament Given Lubinda.

Siamunene is the second UPND Member of Parliament to be given a Government position after Itezhi Tezhi Member of Parliament Greyord Monde who has since been expeled.

The UPND is yet to react to Siamunene’s appointment who was facing some charges in the party. As the party’s leaders are in detention.

Speaking when he swore them in at State House today February 27 2013, President Sata urged the appointees to focus on serving the people despite the negative criticism that they will receive from some sections of society.

He said there was need for the appointees to understand that they were in their position to serve the people and hence it was important for them to put aside their political beliefs and just concentrate on the call to serve.

At the same function the President also swore in Rowland Msiska as Secretary to the Cabinet.

He urged those who had been appointed into Foreign Service to go and sell the Country’s investment potential so that more people could come and invest in the country.

The President said he did not understand why the Country was still facing high unemployment levels when it had so many areas which needed investment.
