Namulambe wins back Mpongwe seat

Patriotic  Front candidate Gabriel Namulambe has retained his Mpongwe seat following the by-elections February 28, 2013.
Namulambe polled 4 600 votes followed by UPND candidate Rabson Chilufya with 3 693 votes, Miniva Kuveya  of the MMD polled 901 votes, while NAREP’s Reagan Ndlovu polled 588 votes and UNIP’s Kenneth Kuveya trailed with 110 votes.
Returning Officer for the Mpongwe By election Ngwale declared Namulambe as the winner of the election in the morning of March 1, 2013.
Speaking after he was declared winner of the election Namulambe described his election as a true reflection of the people of Mpongwe. He said the electorate had said it clearly that they wanted to have nothing to do with regional and finished parties like the UPND and the MMD.
He promised the people of Mpongwe that he would work harder in order to take more development to the area. He also promised to continue with the various projects which he had initiated whilst under the MMD.
