ECZ dispels Mpongwe Voter’s register tempering

The Electoral Commission of Zambia has dispelled assertions by the UPND and the MMD that the Mpongwe Voter’s register has been tempered with.

Mpongwe District Commissioner Winston Kasonkomona says there is no such thing as everything in intact. He has since encouraged the electorate to turn out in numbers for the verification of their names tomorrow February 26 2013.

The MMD through its national Women’s chairperson Faustina Sinyangwe said the voter’s register for the Mpongwe By-election had been tempered with adding that the election had already been compromised.

The UPND’s Munji Habenzu said the voters register had been changed to include a lot of ghost voters.
But Mpongwe PF chairperson Joseph Mwewa said the opposition was just conceding defeat even way before the actual polling day as they knew they could never win the election.

The Mpongwe DC said the ballot papers for the Mpongwe by Election where already in the district.
Kasonkomona said the papers which arrived last night on February 24 2013 would be distributed to the polling stations on Wednesday.
