11 CHOLERA CASES REPORTED IN ZAMBIAN CAPITAL

LUSAKA, Zambia’s Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya has confirmed that 11 cases of cholera have been reported in the capital, Lusaka, with six of the persons affected having been discharged from hospitals while the remaining are still undergoing treatment.

Dr Chilufya, who disclosed this after inspecting the cholera treatment centres in Lusaka Sunday, said the affected areas in Lusaka are Chipata and Mazyopa.

The minister also disclosed that the government, in conjunction with its partners, was putting in place measures to contain the outbreak so that the number of cases did not increase.

He said the Health Ministry wanted to ensure that the outbreak did not spread to other areas.
